Felipe Sidorowski
  • Forestry Planning & Control Supervisor for Florestas do Brasil fund’s portfolio companies.
  • Over 7 years of experience in the forestry sector, 5 of which with Corus Agroflorestal S.A., portfolio company of Florestas do Brasil fund. Active role in the planning and control of silvicultural activities, machinery and equipment preventive maintenance, quality control and managerial reports, forestry research and ISO 9001 and 14001 certification programs.
  • Prior to Corus, Felipe did internships at Bahia Pulp, V&M Florestal and Aracruz. Felipe published several technical papers in the forestry field.

Juliano Proença
  • Regional Forestry Manager of Mato Grosso do Sul and Minas Gerais for the portfolio companies of Florestas do Brasil fund.
  • Over 12 years of experience in the plantation forestry sector, 5 of them with Corus Agroflorestal S.A., where he participated in the establishment of 16,500 hectares of eucalyptus forests in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul and Minas Gerais.
  • Before joining Corus, Juliano worked at International Paper/VCP in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul and also for the forestry service provider Equilíbrio Proteção Florestal.
  • Technical Degree in Farming from Fundação Paula Souza, BA in Business from UNIDERP and Graduate Degree in Forestry Management from UFPR.
Luiza Esteves
  • Socio-environmental Analyst at Caravelas Florestal S.A., portfolio company from the Florestas do Brasil fund.
  • Prior to joining Caravelas, worked at ArcelorMittal Monlevade, participating in the management and control of residues disposal, water and effluents treatment, environmental protection, environmental licenses renewal and suppliers development.
  • Before Arcelor, was the founding-member of the Socio-environmental Junior Enterprise from UEMG (Sênior Consultoria Ambiental) and conducted studies and analyses on the environmental licensing process at the Instituto Estadual de Florestas de Minas Gerais (IEF/MG).
  • BS in Socio-environmental Engineering at the Universidade do Estado de Minas Gerais.
Rafael Renó
  • Forestry Planning Analyst at Caravelas Florestal S.A., portfolio company of Florestas do Brasil fund.
  • Worked for 2 years as forestry planning analyst for the other portfolio companies, Corus Agroflorestal S.A. and Mistral Agroflorestal S.A., having participated in the evaluation processes for new assets.
  • Before joining Copa Investimentos, worked at the geoprocessing group of LEMAF-UFLA (Forestry Management Studies and Projects Laboratory of Universidade Federal de Lavras), developing studies with satellite images to map land cover and forest operations planning (i.e. georeferencing, classification, segmentation, mosaics and map generation)

Investment Management

Arnaldo Salmeron
  • Partner of Copa Investimentos.
  • Responsibilities include acting as Forestry Director of Copa Investimentos, technical due diligence and monitoring of investments/portfolio companies.
  • Joined Claritas’ timberland investments group in January 2008 as forestry director and became a partner in 2011. Active role in the management of Corus Agroflorestal S.A. and in the structuring of Florestas do Brasil  fund.
  • Over 33 years of practical experience in plantation forestry in Brazil. Formerly responsible for Votorantim Celulose e Papel S.A. – VCP’s forestry operations in the state of Sao Paulo, including the plantation of 32,000 hectares per year, annual maintenance of over 100,000 hectares, 45 million seedlings and clones production, and annual harvest operations of approximately 4 million cubic meters of wood. Previously served as forestry manager of Veracel Celulose S.A. and Ripasa S.A. Celulose e Papel.
  • Served as president of IPEF – Instituto de Pesquisas e Estudos Florestais, a renowned forestry research institute, and authored 11 scientific papers in the forestry field.
  • BS and postgraduate degree in Forestry from USP (ESALQ),and MBA from Business School São Paulo.
Fernando Abucham
  • Co-founded Copa Investimentos in March 2012.
  • Responsibilities include due diligence, investments and acquisitions, portfolio management and investor relations.
  • Involved with timberland investments since 2005, Fernando was a partner of Claritas Investimentos and co-responsible for its timberland investment group. Founded Corus Agroflorestal S.A. and raised the timber funds Claritas PE I FIP and Florestas do Brasil FIP. Served as CFO and is currently a member of the Finance Committee of Eco Brasil Florestas S.A. Co-responsibility over the operations, due diligence and investments of the fund Florestas do Brasil FIP.
  • Previously worked at Goldman Sachs’ Investment Banking Division in New York and São Paulo, involved in M&A, corporate finance and principal investment projects.

Marcelo Borell
  • Research and investments analyst. Participates in the elaboration of market analyses, evaluation of investment opportunities, presentations and reports to investors.
  • Before joining Copa, Marcelo was an intern at Corus Agroflorestal S. A. which is a portfolio company of the fund Florestas do Brasil FIP. Involved with financial planning and control, Marcelo helped develop budgets, managerial reports to monitor operating efficiency and costs as well as reports for the management team and shareholders.

Apolonio Sales
  • Financial Administrative Manager of Florestas do Brasil fund’s portfolio companies.
  • Worked at Claritas in 2009 as a Summer Associate and joined Copa Investimentos in 2012 to oversee, with full time dedication, the financial and administrative department of the portfolio companies of Florestas do Brasil fund.
  • Before joining Copa Investimentos, worked at Banco Votorantim, a top 7 privately owned bank in Brazil, involved in New Business Development and Strategic Planning. Apolonio also has experience in Strategic Consultancy having worked for Boston Consulting Goup – BCG.  Before his MBA, he worked at Klabin, the largest paper manufacturer in South America, involved with business intelligence and strategy.
  • BA in Business Administration from FAAP and MBA from the ESADE Business School.
Sandro Corte
  • Sandro joined Copa Investimentos in October 2013 fully dedicated to the prospecting and evaluation of new investment opportunities.
  • Sandro was a Forestry Manager at Granflor Agroflorestal Ltda’s Rio Grande do Sul unit, where he was responsible for the establishment and management of 20 thousand hectares of commercial plantations of Eucalyptus spp., managed under saw log rotation. He was actively involved in evaluating and selecting properties for acquisition in this project which totaled 33 thousand hectares. He was responsible for the selection, hiring and supervision of the agreements with service providers, timber sales and land leases.
  • Previously, Sandro worked for STCP Engenharia de Projetos Ltda., where he was involved with forestry consulting projects with Aracruz Celulose and Jari Celulose.
  • BS in forestry engineering from Universidade Federal do Paraná  and specialization in Work Safety Engineering from UNIFRA, Santa Maria, RS.
Márcio Geromini
  • Forestry Operations Manager of Caravelas Florestal, Florestas do Brasil FIP’s portfolio company in Bahia.
  • Over 16 years of experience in the plantation forestry industry.
  • Prior to joining Caravelas Florestal, Márcio was with Suzano Papel e Celulose S.A. for 8 years, where he lead different areas, including: Operational Safety, Quality and Training, Forestry Certifications and Forestry Operations. As a Forestry Operations Executive Manager, Márcio was responsible for the Piauí and Maranhão units, overseeing over 300,000 hectares of planted forests, annual plantations of 30,000 hectares, 350 employees, 3,000 contractors and a R$300 million annual budget.
  • Prior to joining Suzano, Márcio worked in various roles for Terranova Brasil Ltda. and MASISA do Brasil Ltda., as well as for STCP Engenharia de Projetos Ltda., where he acted as a forestry consultant
  • BS in Forestry Engineering from Universidade Federal do Paraná and Master in Environmental Engineering from Universidade Regional de Blumenau.
